Nurse Joys and Jenny Cops

Whats inspired the repetition of the Joy's and Jenny's? Were the artists just too lazy or were Joy's and Jenny's a big hit? Whats with the long line of cousins where they all have the same name? Lets discuss.

It's a running gag that involves Brock, as he even sang a song about them. It's just for kicks, really. It's the reality that Pokemon has created.

"Joy" is probably a surname (it's implied that it is a few times), though I have no idea about "Jenny."

Nintendo needs some randomness in the anime, and so many Nurse Joys/Officer Jennys is just what they wanted to use.

I just think the design and idea was funny at first so they did it for every cop and nurse but it then got old but they couldn't be bothered to change it

Yeah, probably just laziness. It would have been better if they changed them up from region to region. So Hoenn would have had a new set of ladies for Brock to hit on. He also would have been disappointed if the Sinnoh cops were guys.

Well we should know that the nurse joys are based on the games in this, seeing as the games originally had a nurse joy in each pokemon center.

This is kind of interesting actually. The repetition of Nurse Joy is more understandable than Officer Jenny, I wouldn't be surprised if 'Jenny' was one of the Nintendo staff's friends, or alliances. Its possible; for example Guitarist Masuda is used as a Guitarist in Pokémon Crystal's Battle Tower, where Masuda was a music director, as well as Bug Catcher Tajiiri, a reference to Satoshi Tajiiri who loved bugs.
