MOST RULE BREAKING CAN BE AVOIDED BY USING COMMON SENSE, PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU POST AND SHOW SOME CONSIDERATION TOWARDS OTHERS. Read these new updated rules, they will apply to the whole site ie. chat, forum and comments on pages/galleries. 1. No extreme violence or talking about anything illegal such as drugs, guns etc. unless you're having a serious and mature discussion. Example, "I just bought a new gun to shoot the drug dealers outside my house with, what do you think!?" - this is obviously not a good thing to post about. 2. No flaming or being rude to anyone. If you come across people you just do not want to be friends with, don't cause each other trouble. Keep your distance, ignore, and carry on as normal. 3. Double posting is generally not a big deal but please just try to go back and edit your post instead. Double posting can make the forums look messy. If we find a double post we may just edit it ourselves, don't be too alarmed!
4. It isn't nessesary but try to keep to at least three words per post. A post with no words and just smilies may sometimes be deleted or edited. 5. No spamming, which means posting without any relevance to the topic. Going off topic is included. 6. Capitals are allowed IF they are used correctly and with a point. You can use them if you're not going to shout and flame at people, please don't use them for no good reason. 7. No foul language please, it has occured in the past where young people on the site have been kicked off by their parents after seeing just one innappropriate bit of text. This rule has always been in place so please respect it. 8. No exsessive use of emoticons to decorate the page or to fill anything up. It's classed as spamming and they do not count as words. This also applies to the chat, continuous usage of emoticons can get very annoying.
9. No telling other members that they are breaking the rules if you don't know the rules yourself! This is up to the admins/mods so please don't do it unless you know better. If someone is breaking the rules on purpose, DO NOT REPLY TO THEM! Alert us instead! Try to help new people on the forums and chat if they are doing something wrong without knowing. Pointing them to the rules in a friendly manner is a good idea.
10. Please don't ask to be a mod or admin. We decide who is worthy of managing the site and asking will only lessen your chances.
11. Please do not PM the mods/admins for no good reason as most of us are really busy, if you want idle chat with us you can do so in the chat or forum. You may PM the mods and admins if you need help, have a question or just want to inform us about things. Any rude PMs won't be responded to.
12. There is no real signiture limit, however if the image(s) obstructs the forum layout, they will be removed. Remember, just because there is no real limit does not mean you can have a small animation thats over 1MB. We recommend under 70KB and no more than 3 images, unless they're small enough or neatly presented.
13. No bringing up old topics that do not relate to this day and age. You may bring up old topics if they have died out and will be good to start again but if the topic concerns members or situations of the past, then it's quite pointless.
14. No one shall flame or speak badly of any other website, you could really offend members of that site if they were to ever come across your post. Publically flaming other sites is wrong. 15. No picking on newbies. Try to help them instead, everyone is a newbie at some point and we all make total idiots of ourselves at times too, so don't bring people down. If it annoys you, then solve the problem, don't make it worse. 16. Never, EVER, EVER, EVER bring up sex or anything related unless it is on a very serious note within a mature discussion. It's one of our pet hates, we would rather talk about things which are suitable for all ages. 17. No arguing rudely with the admins, whatever we say usually goes and if you feel strongly against it then you may have your say but we aren't likely to listen if you're blindly attacking us. We don't mind if you disagree with us or want to debate something. Respect us and we will respect you. 18. Speak in English only please! If the admins and mods are unable to understand words then we cannot moderate the forums or chat. 20. When creating new topics, always check the sticky topics first, we've had many duplicate threads because people aren't checking if they already exist or not. 21. No advertising anywhere but the Website Advertising board! This means you cannot post links to random sites unless you are referencing or crediting. Please also do not PM people to advertise your site, it's somewhat rude to assume that everyone is interested in clicking your links. 22. No making "I will answer all your questions" type threads, they tend to spoil the purpose of the website and forums. 23. Creating a new account on TST when you already have one is HIGHLY FROWNED UPON unless you absolutely have to! Anything you want to do on a new account can be done on the old one including changing your username if you ask an admin. Rules Specifically for the Chat24. The colours cyan, lime, yellow and white are forbidden. They are far too bright and unreadable. Also no font background colours.
25. Be patient, not everyone connected to the chat is available, don't start getting upset when no one responds, people might just be busy doing other things.
26. Absolutly no clones, that means joining the chat more than once at same time.
27. No bots, only admins/mods can bring bots in and only for testing.
28. It is considered rude to randomly PM people without their permission first. You should ask people if they mind private conversations before jumping into one, unless you know for certain that they are ok with it.
29. Anyone who spams will get a warning first, if they spam again, they are banned "end of story". Whether the ban is temporary or permanent is entirely up to the admins/mods. To quote Lucario, "Spam in moderation I personally think is fine... but not constant spam." ***In response to recent events: There are moments where we all get together and spam it up. "Spam fests" are rare, completely random, but a part of the TST community. Feel free to join in, or leave to another topic for conversation, as it honestly can't be helped when it starts (you'll know when it does). We try to keep it to a minimum, as in it's not anywhere near an everyday thing. Please don't be offended, it's not the end of the world.
30. Respect other people's wishes. If they want you to leave them alone, please leave them alone.
31. Please, PLEASE try to avoid "text/chat speak" for example "i leik 2 tlk 2 ppl" it is very much frowned upon.
32. No script abuse! That is, purposely triggering scripts more often than they should be triggered.
33. Don't ask or tell other people to join your channels, it's quite rude. If people want to join, they will do so without you needing to ask.
34. No automated welcome back messages. All scripts must be triggered by an exclamation mark, for example !hug or !eat.
35. Anyone caught nickname thieving or borrowing will get a warning first and a twenty minute ban next. No excuses, no exceptions, end of story.
36. If a troll walks in and starts causing trouble, STOP TALKING. Simple as that. If there are no mods around then just stop and they'll get bored if no one is speaking. If you argue back, you only add flames to the fire and you're likely to get into trouble.
37. Religious and political chat is now forbidden due to people not being able to control their emotions. Many users have been insulted and flamed for their beliefs, time to put a stop to this. Make a seperate channel if you wish to debate. 38. If you register your nickname, use it! There are people who want certain names but can't have them due to "nick hoggers" taking them and never using them. 39. Recently, people have been caught in the chat pretending to be someone completely new and different to who they really are. This rule has been put in to prevent deceit. If anyone else is caught doing this they will be banned. It is very serious to try and fool people in this way for whatever reason. That's basically it, we aren't overly strict but we'd like to keep this place neat and tidy as well as clean. Thanks for reading.
